What collar size does my dog need?

A well-fitting collar should neither pinch nor slide over the head, and should provide your dog with enough freedom of movement. In addition to the right size, factors such as material, closure, adjustability, and padding also play important roles. The key to an optimal fit for the collar is the correct size. To determine this, you will need the neck circumference of your dog.

How to Measure Neck Circumference Correctly

Place the measuring tape loosely around the base of your dog’s neck. The collar should not be too tight but should leave about two fingers' width of space. For small dog breeds with a neck circumference under 30 cm, about one finger's width of space is sufficient.

Slip Collars

Slip collars can be easily pulled over the dog’s head. To ensure the head passes easily through the collar, a leeway of 3–5 cm is already included in the specified lengths.

For example, if you choose size 30 cm, the collar will have a total circumference of 33 cm.

Once you have pulled the collar over your dog’s head, adjust the metal stopper to your dog’s neck circumference. The metal stopper acts as a tension limiter and prevents the collar from becoming too tight around the dog's neck.

Please always check that the collar fits properly and is not too large. Otherwise, your dog could free itself from it.

Tip: If your dog is between two sizes, opt for the larger size, so your dog has enough freedom of movement.
